Taiko no Tatsujin - Mobile Edition

The mobile version of Taiko no Tatsujin bears the title of being the first Taiko on a portable device and one of the oldest Taiko games. The application is downloadable both with a specific QR code on the official site, or from the homepage of a Japanese web/WAP provider. It's possible to play Taiko on mobile phones with 3 different japanese phone service providers: i-Mode, Yahoo! Mobile and EZweb. Features within the three providers are different, but they share the same tracklist.

Unlike its bigger brothers, Taiko Mobile only has two difficulties: Kantan and Muzukashii, the latter being unlockable for each song after clearing the Kantan difficulty for that song. Aside from the simplified look, lower-quality audio and the aforementioned trimming of difficulties to save space, this is still the same old Taiko we've all played before. Like the arcade games, it's possible to send the high score of each song to the online network for free! Work hard in order to reach the Top 100:

The higher you score, the more stuff you get; aside from bragging rights for claiming a spot in the top 100 (which is renewed monthly), good and consistent players are rewarded with gifts for their mobile phones, including wallpapers and ringtones.

How will your day be like? Achieve high scores and try asking Ms.Cat and Mr.Ladle. You get the drill with fortune teller applications like these- no guarantee, but it's always fun to see what you get. You can access this once a day. The fortunes change every month!

Acts as a screensaver for i-Mode users when their phone is on standby, and of course, it changes every month! (unlike the desktop calendar wallpapers which have to be manually swapped)

~ Don-chan outfits ~

Like the DS games, Yahoo! users may change the costumes of their drumming buddy. And more plays means more costumes!

When you're tired of drumming, those 9 minigames are a good reason for keeping your phone turned on. Some of these games can also be played with another player! First four games are ported over from PS2, while the remaining are only for mobile.

The Turtles want to eat lots of Takoyaki! Grab them with a plate while Lantern Eel launches them in the air. A Flash version of this game is also available for Internet browsers, on the Flash section of the Donder website.

~ Songlist ~

By paying a subscription quote (315 yen/month), users can try new songs each month, especially from the J-Pop and Anime genres. Every Tuesday and Friday, a couple of new songs appears, and user can download a maximum of 10 songs per month with what they pay.

Aside from this feature, it's also possible to download other Namco Original songs with the arcade games! After playing a song, the QR codes before the Game Over screen offers the possibility both to input the score and to add one of that songs to your mobile roster (aside from uploading your score to Taiko Dojo)! One example? Remember the screenshots of the Don-chan costumes? Numujika ac.10 is being played there, and since most Namco Originals can be obtained through this method, they aren't listed below. Note that there are a few songs that seem out of place in their genres because they're different in all other versions, and there are many songs that aren't seen anywhere else either.
