Namco Taiko Blog (28 June 2012)- Don Challenge

Third blog post of the week, this time once again about the changes to the networking aspect of the new Taiko no Tatsujin arcade update. Don Challenge!

Don Challenge (abbreviated as 'DonChare' (ドンチャレ) by Namco) is an attempt at replicating one more aspect of console Taiko on the arcades, by providing goals to aim for, players wth Banapassport can try to achieve those goals and earn rewards for them! The challenges range from clearing a song, to clearing a set of songs, to achieving more than a specified score and so on.

There will be ten of these each month available for Banapassport holders to try. Clearing 8 out of 10 of the challenges earns the player a new song to play, and if the player clears all ten he will be rewarded with a new title. There is also an extra challenge per month involving both players, and both have to clear the goal at the same time, so that makes 11 per month.

Wait, so what happens if you miss one month of arcade playing? The 8/10 secret song is nothing to worry about, after the challenges for the month expire, the song will be open to all Banapassport holders to play. The unlocking of the song is just for giving dedicated players the chance to play the secret song earlier than everyone else. Only the custom title has a deadline to obtain.

This blog post also details a few other changes to the Donder Hiroba website, including an interface change, a page specially for Don Challenge, an increase in the friend list maximum capacity from 30 to 50, details of future challenges and online tournaments, and Twitter support too. The URL to the website will not change.
