Behind the Drums: Kosuke Takahashi

Hello everyone! This column will be updated periodically and will feature the song composers, vocalists and notecharters behind the scenes who have contributed to making Taiko no Tatsujin such a wonderful game to play!

Takahashi (タカハシ), art name for Kosuke Takahashi (高橋弘介), is a member of the Taiko Team who joined during the Taiko 4 arcade generation. His main job is being a notecharter, to create note patterns for songs. Takahashi is almost always in charge of the most difficult songs in the early days of Taiko, and manages to make every single song memorable with his creative and challenging note patterns. His portfolio includes the note patterns for the entire 2000 series songs up to Hataraku, several other difficult Namco Originals and Game Music songs, and even the licensed songs he is in charge of have very fun patterns.

He was the administrator of the Taiko Team blog and was the person responsible for bringing it to new heights from the Taiko 10 arcade generation onwards. His posts on the blog and on his Twitter page are littered with Konami references (especially Bemani, their rhythm games division) besides talking about Taiko. Despite that he is one of the most anonymous members in the team. No one outside the team knows his full name nor has a picture of what he really looks like.

Takahashi retired on April 2010, leaving the team and Namco Bandai Games. Since he was the person who made all the 2000 songs the team was unsure of how to continue producing sequels for this most iconic of Namco Original series. It continues to be worked on, regardless.
