Namco Taiko Blog (1 April 2013): DOKODON FIGHTERS Theme Song!

The epic fighting game prank from last year is back, and now bigger than ever!

Followers of the Taiko Team's blog will remember this epic thing in which the Taiko characters all receive a double-dose of manliness and forgo festival spirit to smash each other to bits. With more Bemani references that you can shake a turntable at (the fake fighting system is called BMB "Beat Master Battle), this prank was followed up on a number of times.

But never as crazy as this.

Together with the ongoing CreoFUGA contest for the Taiko Tournament 2013 (which ends in two weeks), there is now a new contest....to submit for the theme song of DOKODON FIGHTERS! The contest page is here, and it only lasts one day, submit within April Fools Day to be eligible! The judges and everything looks really authentic as well. But this is all a joke, right?

But no. There are actually people who have submitted music for this fake contest. Wait....fake contest? Who said anything about it being fake at all?

Oh wow.

A winner from this one-day songmaking contest will be picked and put into the songlist of the real Taiko no Tatsujin to be played. Yes you heard right. It's a prank, but it's NOT a prank! They are actually serious about making this work without actually making any fighting game!

No seriously, what madness is this?
