Song of the Week! 19 September 2015

Okay, how can I put this... I got Saturday features switched up, for once.

Today's feature was actually intended to be released last week, in occasion of the overseas release of the first Hatsune Miku-related music game on portable systems, Project Mirai DX. Sadly I got distracted by the Wii U level creation craze and completely forgot about the game's release and slapped the week after's scheduled song instead. My personal apologies for yet another clumsy mistake...

We held this Vocaloid-based feature hostage for one week, so let's not waste any time and see what songs are shared between Taiko gaming and the latest SEGA music game on console!

Ironically, of all the songs included in the recently-released Project Mirai DX game, we are left here to talk about a 2-voice song not starring the blue-haired idol of the Vocaloids, as we already have talked about the other 3 popular tracks available in both games (World Is Mine, Senbonzakura and Matryoshka) in our Hatsune Miku song series. It also happens to be a Hall of Legend hit, just like the three aforementioned Miku tracks, no less!

Published on August 15th, 2012, Yi-er Fanclub is the first major song (22nd overall) from independent composer Mikito-P (みきとP), once infamously known as the "Legendary miki Waste" due to his first creations' lack of popularity (signed under the nickname of SF-A2 miki). The tides have turned for Mikito-P's favor after this song's success, which as of today is strong of over 3.6 million views in video-sharing websites. For more details about his works, there's the Mikito-P website to browse (in Japanese, of course)

The song features Megpoid GUMI and Kagamine Rin in a Chinese-sounding song about the two getting to learn Chinese, so that they can both confess their love to the person they admire and freely chat with him/her. For this reason, the song's lyrics are in part made of Mandarin words and reading styles, hence the title's "Yi-er" (1-2) read as Chinese numbers rather than an expected "Ii Aru" reading, as the title's Japanese wording makes it sound as. The song's album art is made by Yoru, while its music video features the talents of Ryusee (video), Tomodachi Boshuu-P (engineering) and aka (background voice). Later on, Yi-er Fanclub was featured in the 2013 EXIT TUNES album Vocalosensation and in Mikito-P's Vocalo Danshi Vocalo Joshi (2012) and Boku wa Hatsune Miku to Kiss wo Shita (2013) albums.

Before the venture of the 'Go-Go Time Short Bursts' trend in modern Taiko gaming, this Momoiro Version launch song (together with Maji LOVE 2000%) scouted the visual flair grounds with Go-Go Time sections that last a single beat stanza, in order to put more emphasis on the most notable percussion-based portions. From a notechart perspective, however, fits in the lower end of the modern 8-star spectrum with clusters a-plenty under a not panic-inducing overall pace.
