Song of the Week! 20 February 2016

I hate to tell you, but the reason of why I wasn't around that much this week is because I've been really sick. Even after the doctor's visit, I've had some ghastly moments that still give me the chills, ugh.

Speaking of doctors, ...

As much as Taiko no Tatsujin Tokumori got slandered due to the fact of not having launched a lot of never-heard-before songs, the second Wii U title for the series still had its share of exclusives, with the Variety genre getting its new additions as DLC that eventually were ported to the later V Version, also as pieces of downloadable content.

The latter of Tokumori's Variety launch song couple is the main theme for the Doctor X in its related TV Asahi medical drama series, Doctor X ~Gekai Daimon Michiko~ (ドクターX ~外科医・大門未知子~; lit. 'Surgeon Daimon Michiko'). Directed by Naomi Tamura (田村直己) and Hidetomo Matsuda (松田秀知), the series follows the happenings at the Teito University Hospital, where the freelancer surgeon Daimon Michiko is hired as part of a unheard yet questionable 'doctor placement service'. The series has been up since 2012, counsisting (so far) of three seasons in consecutive years and a TV special, set to be aired this year during the summer period.

This theme from Doctor X isn't a series opening/ending but rather a character theme music, often chiming in when Daimon Michiko is involved. The theme is made by Kan Sawada (沢田完), already a familiar name on Taiko grounds for the Kero! To March opening theme for the Keroro Gunso Anime series.

Clocking at about 2 minutes and 40 seconds, this is also one of the Variety genre's longest songs, which in turn makes for a slow-paced notechart with tons of notes and occasional 1/24 bursts. The Oni mode's ending portion culminates into a brief scrolling speed increment for a last-stretch effort.
